I would like to know which worship songs (top 3) have the greatest impact on you. I know this may be hard for some of you to limit to three, but give it try
Also, feel free to explain why they are at the top of your list.
I will summarize the results in a follow-up post.

(1) In Christ Alone
(2) I Will Glory in My Redeemer
(3) Be Thou My Vision
I’ve been so happy lately because we’ve sung all of these recently =)
Hi Mark,
1. Before the Throne: because I know I have a savior who constantly intercedes for me.
2. I Can Only Imagine (written by Mercy Me): it most captures how I envision death and our resurrection to new life.
3. Exalted: (sung by Chris Tomlin): an incredible song of worship and praise to our Lord.
Not sure if this helps, but I do appreciate your taking the time to present the question.
I look forward to hearing the results.
Mark, I love Amazing Grace, Victory in Jesus and one that may not be in our hymnals – I don’t know the title but it says
something like I hear the sounds of angel wings…la la la (that is me singing and trying to remember all the words) surely the presence of the Lord is in this place. played at my daughter’s wedding.
Amazing Grace just touches me each time
Victory in Jesus was the hymn both my parents requested be played at their funeral and it truly comforted me each time. they became believers in their 60′s – very unusual but wonderful for our family.
1. When I Survey the Wondrous Cross (Watts) — Years ago I read a series of sermons by Lloyd-Jones that had a big influence on my understanding of Christ’s redemptive work. Lloyd-Jones often quoted from the hymn in his sermons.
2. And Can It Be That I Should Gain (C. Wesley)
Hi Mark,
This is tough. I have been introduced to some great hymns/worship songs since coming to GBC. Some of them I don’t remember the titles, but the following are at the top of my list.
1. In Christ Alone
2. When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
3. Here I am to Worship
And Can it Be
Mighty Fortress
Not sure if I can narrow it down to just three but here are three of my favorite:
1. “Hark the voice of love and mercy,” Jonathan Evans, 1784 (my favorite rendetion of this is from Red Mt. Music)
2. “There is a Fountain Fill with Blood,” William Cowper
3. “Christ, or Else I Die,” William Hammond
Trying to pick my top three worship songs is nearly impossible as there have been so many hymns throughout the years that have had an impact on me. So, I thought I’d tell you my top three worship songs that are not found in the hymnal (at least, not in the Trinity Hymnal).
1. How Deep the Father’s Love for Us by Stuart Townend
2. Blessed Be Your Name by Matt Redman
3. Hallelujah! Praise Jehovah by William Kirkpatrick
Can’t wait to hear what others have to say…
~Martine
So, I said that I gave you three songs that are not found in the hymnal. Well, today I found “Hallelujah! Praise Jehovah” in the hymnal. It says that it is from the Psalter. We want to keep it on our favorites list because it is a current favorite in our family
My favorites change monthly depending on what I’m going through at the moment and what the Lord is teaching me. Also – they change when I learn new songs that inspire me or come upon old favorites that re-inspire me.
Here are my current favorites:
Ancient Words
Blessed Be Your Name
How Deep the Father’s Love For Us
One song that is ALWAYS a favorite:
Amazing Grace
